Swan symbolism and meaning can conjure images of purity, innocence and magic. Swan is also associated with transformations such as death and rebirth. This project arose as a result of a sense of deep aliveness, truth, purity and spiritual connection. The series was created as a result of a chance encounter with a wild swan who displayed unusual sensitivity, loyalty and grace. It inspired a surprising collection of waterfowl as texture and form. A symbol of grace that can only be uncovered in the natural world. ā Mist ā by Maya is available as an edition of 7 pieces. 91 X 91 cm (approx (36 X 36 inches) mounted behind the highest grade plexiglass (acrylic glass). Available framed in silver aluminium. Different woods are also available on request. This large 91cm X 91 cm piece is exposed using the latest technology and then traditionally developed by first printing onto HD Professional Archive photo paper, mounted behind 3mm HD Acrylic and inset into a precision cut aluminium frame with a small stepped rebate. The artwork is created by the artist Maya de Almeida Araujo. The backing seals the image and protects it from heat and moisture. It is supplied with an aluminium subframe and Inks are certified for 100+ years. This certificate is signed by the artist.

Maya Almeida Araujo has exhibited globally and had sites structurally adapted for her pieces. She is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose practice considers art as a platform for connection. With a focus on the element of water, the work floats between the spheres of still and moving images, artistic installation, and site specific work. Navigating the confluence of nature, art and technology, her work has developed through critical engagement with her own mind and body in a way that examines fundamental questions of how human beings relate to themselves and to their environment. Adopting a unique approach to each work, Maya draws on personal experience, culture and ancient philosophy to create visceral immersive experiences. An invitation to step into an imaginary world in a way that is both sensorial and profoundly intimate. It asks how we can come together and ultimately, heal. London is home but Maya was born in Lisbon to Portuguese/Belgian/German parents. She studied Biology at Imperial College, London. Her artistic path was one of auto-didacticism with training at Central Saint Martins, with best in class equipment manufacturers and under some of the greatest image makers such as Tim Flach and Lois Greenfield. The work consistently pushes technological boundaries in search for a truer realisation of the intended experience. Recent projects have involved developing custom rigs for film-making in the open ocean, multi-screen editing at ground breaking levels of resolution, colour depth, motion, interactive animation environments and producing hyper-textured ambisonic soundscapes. All in partnership with a collective of like-minded artistic collaborators and craftspeople without losing sight of her truth.
